1 Graston Technique

Delmarva Chiropractic is pleased to announce the use and certification of The Graston Technique®. As one of the only Graston providers on the Eastern Shore, Delmarva Chiropractic helps patients achieve unparalleled recovery in their health conditions, and once again reflects the superior quality of care and unrivaled qualifications of the providers.

The Graston Technique®, originally developed by athletes, is changing the way clinicians including athletic trainers, chiropractors, physical therapists, occupational therapists - and patients view treatment of acute and chronic soft tissue injuries.
Graston Technique® is an innovative, patented form of instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization that enables clinicians to effectively break down scar tissue and fascial restrictions. The Technique utilizes specially designed stainless steel instruments to specifically detect and effectively treat areas exhibiting soft tissue fibrosis or chronic inflammation.

Kinesio Taping

The Kinesio Taping® Method is a definitive motion. It is a rehabilitative taping technique that is designed to facilitate the body's natural healing process while providing support and stability to muscles and joints without restricting the body's range of motion, it also provides extended soft tissue manipulation to prolong the benefits of manual therapy administered within the clinical setting. Latex-free and wearable for days at a time, Kinesio® Tex Tape is safe for populations ranging from pediatric to geriatric, and successfully treats a variety of orthopedic, neuromuscular, neurological and other medical conditions. The Kinesio® Taping Method is a therapeutic taping technique which not only supports, but often rehabilitates the affected condition as well. By targeting different receptors within the somatosensory system, Kinesio® Tex Tape alleviates pain and facilitates lymphatic drainage by microscopically lifting the skin. This lifting affect forms convolutions in the skin, thus increasing interstitial space and allowing for a decrease in inflammation of the affected areas.

Functional Orthotics

Aberrant foot motion can lead to the breakdown in lower extremity kinematics affecting the loads on the muscles and joints of the foot, ankle, knee, hip and low-back. With the average American walking 5-8 thousand steps in a day, the resultant stress to these regions can often be significant, resulting in plantar fasciitis, tendinopathies, shin splints, bursitis or joint pain. At Delmarva Chiropractic, we identify the area(s) of abnormal foot function through both biomechanical and gate analysis, and use extra-spinal/extremity manipulation - as well functional orthoses - to help stabilize foot movement in the gait cycle.
